Duke Edinburgh Award

Girlguiding continues to offer members aged 14-25 the opportunity to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. For more information about the Duke of Edinburgh's Award please see www.dofe.org 

There are three levels of programme you can do - the main differences between them are the minimum length of time they take to complete, how challenging they are and the minimum age you can start.

      ·         Bronze - for those aged 14+ (or aged 13 & in the school year they turn 14). Takes at least six months to complete.

·         Silver - for those aged 15+ (or aged 14 & in the school year they turn 15). Takes at least 6 months if you have completed Bronze & 12 months for direct entrants.

·         Gold - for those aged 16+. Takes at least 12 months if you have completed Silver & 18 months for direct entrants.

You must complete your award by your 25th Birthday

To complete a DofE Award, you must undertake a period of activity in each of the following sections: volunteering, physical, skills-development and an expedition. For the Gold level you will also need to take part in a residential event.

DofE Information/Drop in Sessions:

One or more members of the DofE team will be available to discuss DofE, get help with signing sections off etc. You do not need to stay for the whole session!

Wednesday 13 February 2018 at County Office 6-7.15pm

DofE Expeditions

In 2019 we are offering the following expeditions: Bronze Walking, Silver Walking, Silver Canoeing and Gold Walking (via Region)

Bronze Walking (£60 training & expedition fees):

Basic Expedition Training:    5-7 April 2019 (location tba)

Practice Expedition:            27-28 April 2019 (Leicestershire)

Qualifying Expedition:         29-30 June 2019 (Leicestershire)

Silver Walking (£65 expedition fees):

Practice Expedition:            13-15 April 2019 (Peak District)

Qualifying Expedition:         25-27 May 2019 (Peak District)

Silver Canoeing (£175 max training & expedition fees):

Introductory Session:           16 March 2019 (Leicestershire)

Canoe Paddle Training:        6 April & 7 April 2019 (Nottingham)

Canoe Paddle Days:            11 May & 12 May 2019 (location tba)

Practice Expedition:           25-27 May 2019 (location tba)

Qualifying Expedition:        16-18 OR 17-19 August 2019 (exact dates & location tba)
